Buena Vista School Community Council

SCC mission:

bullet The Buena Vista School Community Council connects school, home and community in a collaborative relationship that shares responsibility for the well being and success of all students.
bulletWe meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in the library and all parents and guardians are welcome to attend. Consider letting your name stand for nomination for 2008-09; watch for information about the AGM, scheduled for June 2008.

Community

Our school is located in the South Central part of the city of Saskatoon. Students from the exhibition area also attend our school. Students who live to the west of Lorne Ave. and south of Taylor, receive bus transportation.

City administration has supplied us with some interesting facts about our two areas. This information is current as of 1998.

Buena Vista Community Association
The Buena Vista Community Association is dedicated to building and enhancing the Buena Vista community. The BVCA is a valued partner of both the School Community Council and the school, and operates recreational programs for all ages as well as the skating rink located at Buena Vista School. Finances should never be a barrier to participation in Community Association programs; confidential subsidies may be available.
For information about the Buena Vista Community Association and its programs, please contact the current President, Jen Pederson, at jpederson@sasktel.net.

Volunteers

Buena Vista School welcomes many volunteers each year. Parent  volunteers, University students, and community members can be seen working with our students throughout the school on a daily basis. Below is a very special woman who has been a  long time volunteer and supporter of Buena Vista School!

Arlene Ryan has been a volunteer in schools and libraries since 1982 when her children first attended Thornton School. She has been part of the Buena Vista School Family since 1986 when her children transferred in after Thornton School closed. Arlene faithfully works in the library two times a week whatever the weather.
