Great clarity, Sandra. I think a common error is absolutely seeing students as “in need of remediation.” If students are going to be engaged, we need to know that language level is not an intellectual disability and it requires different adaptations.

Thank you, Wendy, for clarifying the 3 big traits and the process by which to teach them. In particular, the process of teaching or, at least, cultivating intrinsic motivation in students. I found items 3, 6, and 7 in this section to be especially helpful as I hadn’t thought about them as clearly as you have framed them in this post.

It is a pleasure to be a part of these meetings. The time that these meetings has provided to reflect on one’s own experience has been valuable. The sincerity of the participants to meaningfully incorporate Indigenous Knowledge within the Science curriculum is a pleasure to see. Thanks Darryl for planning these times.

This professioanl learning is about collaboration and inquiry and learning shoulder to shoulder with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.The model is ground breaking and is being used at the University level to support pre-service teacher education.
