Many students have decided to attend Nutana because they need the environment of a smaller collegiate with teachers who specialize in meeting individual needs, and the valuable benefit of the support services personnel.

The program at Nutana remains academic with many students leaving for post secondary education.  However, the program is delivered so that students who have encountered difficulty in obtaining an education because of personal or social reasons can find academic success.  Along with the personalized instruction, a quarter system helps students complete classes in a more compact time frame.  The quartered environment enables students to carry only two classes, but the pace moves very quickly.  This works well for up-graders (need higher grade standings), students returning to complete their education and regular four year students.

The Saskatoon Collegiate Institute opened its doors on September 6, 1910 with an enrollment of 95 students.  In 1929 many changes were made to the building.  In 1930 the first major addition was made when the gym was built on the northwest side, which is now the art room and re-entry.  In 1965 our current gym was built on the east side of the school.  In May 1923 when the new collegiate was opened, the name changed to Nutana Collegiate Institute.
