  Tourism at Nutana

Nutana Collegiate is the first Canadian Academy of Travel and Tourism (CATT) Gold School in Saskatchewan.  Travel and tourism is the world's fastest growing sector and offers a variety of interesting career opportunities for today's youth.  This academy provides students with the opportunity to build the foundation of a tourism career as part of their high school education.

CATT Certificates

Students have the opportunity to complete a Level I, Level II, and Gold Certificate.  Graduates who earn a CATT Gold Certificate may apply for national travel and tourism scholarships and are well prepared for entry level employment in the tourism industry.

Tourism 30A

Students are introduced to the tourism industry and must complete the following requirements:

  • 50 hours (in class) 50 hours (work experience)

  • Tourism Essential Skills

  • Saskatchewan Tourism Education Council Workshops

  • Tourism in Saskatoon

  • Event planning

  • CPR/First Aid

  • Serve It Right

  • Service Best

  • Food Safe

Tourism 30A and Tourism 30B

 

Students continue to learn more about the tourism industry and must earn the following:

  • 50 hours (in class) 50 hours (work experience)

  • Employment and business opportunities

  • Marketing

  • Creating a venture

  • Saskatchewan Tourism Education Council Career Planning Guide

  • Tourism Essential Skills

  • Event planning

  • Tourism in Waskesiu

The Tourism class has taught me many things about myself as a person and has

boosted my self-esteem.  A few of my friends were telling me this class has got them

thinking about their futures and what they are going to do with themselves.  Programs

like this are important for students.  We need to feel empowered and good about ourselves.
